When this bridge was opened in 1932, it was the highest single-span arch bridge in the world.  While not the tallest anymore, it is one of the most photographed bridges in California due to its graceful architecture and magnificent setting.  As the gateway to Big Sur, it is a spectacular meeting of ocean and land.
